“You can do nothing…… and have a 10 day cold
You can do everything,…..and have a 10 day cold.”
Ruth McKinney Alkema (my mother)
Although I think in large part she is right! I did take a day off to rest yesterday and my so far 7 day cold is doing better today. That is to say, I am doing better. The cold is subsiding.
It is so comforting and sometimes amusing to remember things one’s mother taught oh so very long ago and be able to smile and think, far wiser then ever I realized at the time!
Another thing my mother taught me was, “ Take a deep breath and count to 10 Nancy. Nobody else wants your temper!”
How MANY times have I taught clients to breathe, breathe, brreeaatthheee……slow down, think and then take action. Never underestimate the wisdom of your mother.
Another Motherism I embrace is: “Because I am the mother and I told you to!”
Let’s see if we can come up with a few motherisms to share. Mother’s Day is right around the corner and time to think tenderly of the moments mom did the very best she knew how to do. Send me some memories if you should be so inclined. I will use them or not, as you choose.
- I am grateful my cold feels enough better than I can face the world again
- I am grateful for a precious day of reading, sleeping, and cuddling with Aimee
- I am grateful to be going to Live at the Med today with a friend
- I am grateful my faithful family from Peterborough who take such excellent care of me are coming today and I will have once again a clean and sparkling home
Have a good day all. Remember to breathe. Love, Nancy
